Good Morning everyone. Today is an exciting day for Nogales. Another retail store grand opening. SHOW CARNIVAL. Soon we will also see grand openings of two new restaurants. Their are close than 500,000 sq. ft. of new construction to include warehouse space cold storage, dry storage, offices, retail and restaurants at this time. Construction of this magnitude had not been seen in many years. All this is future job growth. Also, close to 200 new business licences were issued this last year alone. Sales have increased 5.44%. These are good indicators of recovery from the recession. These last three years many positive things were done to establish this environment. Signed the historic document Sisterhood Agreement with Nog, Son. Helped create the Border Mayors Association. Created partnerships with MAG and PAG which are Pima and Maricopa Councils of Government for support. Promoted a positive image of Nogales. Changed the perception of our city. Facilitated the permit process for new and existing business. Held Economic Development forums. Became partners with the new Mega Region ARI/SON. which includes Arizona and Sonora Mayors and cities. Established the Economic Development and tourism advisory board. Therefore with all the above we have established and demonstrated that we are a sound and responsible government. This assurance helps investors want to establish there businesses in Nogales. Nogales has a bright future. It is important to be proud if our city and to speak good of what we are proud of.
