Good Morning from the Pinch-Hitter Professional Organizer, ADHD Coach & Budget Coach. This morning Im going to talk about TIME MANAGEMENT. First I am going to share with you an experience I had yesterday. I received 3 emails this week with invitations to participate in three different events NEXT week. One of the emails was sent on Monday, 3/10 and the other two were sent yesterday, Wednesday. The concern I have is that nowhere in the emails was there any acknowledgement to the short notice given. I often wonder what people are thinking when they send out invitations with 7days or less notice. AT THE VERY LEAST GIVE YOUR GUEST AND PARTICIPANTS two WEEKS NOTICE, more would be even better. I thought it important to talk about APPROPRIATE NOTICE because when one fails to observe appropriate notice it speaks volumes to what the person sending the invitation thinks of YOUR TIME....basically what is being said, without saying it is, MY TIME IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOURS, and I dont have to consider your schedule....MY SCHEDULE IS MORE IMPORTANT. At least that is what can be interpreted. When one demonstrates a lack of respect for time it is an omen for future problems. Personally, for me I am very reluctant to work with people who do not demonstrate a respect for time theirs or mine. So my advise to you is if you find yourself unable to give others APPROPRIATE NOTICE. At the very least apologize for the late notice...this will send the message that you respect their time but really want them to participate in the event. EVERY ONES TIME IS VALUEBLE AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED. For further reading on the subject of Time Management visit my blog: pinch-hitter/blog/2012/03/07/Rules-of-Time-Rule-1.aspx
