Good Morning out there to all my FB friends, family and drivers. I - TopicsExpress

Good Morning out there to all my FB friends, family and drivers. I recently read a letter to the editor in The Trucker newspaper and it hit very close to home. I have to agree with this driver and I hope others get the message. I am so tired of the "I am better than you" attitude of some drivers out here because they are truckers. We are all members of society and we all work to make society work. I think this world would be a better place if some would realize that they are no better than others no matter what they do for a living. Trucker: Tired Of ‘Professional’ And ‘A Truck Brought It’ Mantras I’m so tired of listening to people who claim to be “professional” drivers. Do you ever hear “I’m a professional doctor” or “I’m a professional maid”? “Professional” means only that you do it for a living. I’m also fed up to the eyeballs with hearing, “If you got it, a truck brought it.” That fact does not entitle you to bully anybody else who’s driving a vehicle with less than 18 wheels, and it does not excuse you for bad behavior. I see more and more selfish inconsideration for others — including other truckers — and less competency and courtesy in handling a large vehicle. And the world has to tolerate a self-righteous attitude because you brought it? Chew on this: “If you ate it, a farmer produced it.” How about, “Without farmers, America starves.” My dad was a farmer, and I never heard him complain about non-farmers being ungrateful for what he did. (Please spare me the, “a truck delivered that food” response.) That’s not the point. The point is, everybody in the work world is necessary. You haul steel? Not without the people working in the steel mills. Drive a tanker? Someone has to make the product you carry. It’s all connected, right down to the minimumwage earner who sweeps up the factory floor.Every link in the chain is important to make life go on. Dad farmed all his life without complaint — but then, farming is what he loved. If you hate your job so much, find another line of work, but if you can’t do that, make the best of it. You’ve heard, “when life hands you lemons … .” Whining all the time without actually doing something to change does not help at all.(Have you noticed?) And please, stop beating your chest [about] “if you got it … .” By the way, I drive a truck. Surprise. — K.M. Woods, Kingsbury, Ind
