Good Sunday Evening Mississippi! It looks like you might finally - TopicsExpress

Good Sunday Evening Mississippi! It looks like you might finally have the leverage youve been looking for if you have been having a hard time convincing your wife to buy that boat youve had your eye on... Heavy rain continues to fall this evening with totals above the 3 mark at the Jackson Intl. Airport and over 4.5 at the Vicksburg Municipal Airport! Im expecting another heavy line of showers to develop and push through Central Mississippi throughout the late evening hours, lasting through the early morning hours tomorrow. Some of these storms could be strong to severe with the main threat being several additional inches of rain and a possibility for tornadoes with the highest probabilities being south of I-20 and closer to the gulf coast. Im going to stand on the soap box here briefly, so bear with me... If you see high water on a roadway, please do yourself and emergency responders a BIG favor and turn your car around and find an alternate route to your destination. As the saying goes, Turn Around, Dont Drown... You might just save your own life. It only takes roughly 6 to a foot of fast moving water to sweep your vehicle off the roadway. Theres no way of telling just how deep the water youre thinking about crossing is, and quite honestly, the road itself might be washed away entirely below the waters surface. Again, do not drive through an area of standing/moving water... I digress... By Monday at lunch time, most showers will have pushed out of the area but round two will begin to push in by Tuesday as another cold front dives our way. This will bring in another chance for showers and storms through the day before we finally clear out and cool down by Tuesday Night. Highs through the middle of the week will struggle to reach the mid-60s but another big warm up will move in by Thursday and Friday as highs return to the mid-70s under partly cloudy skies.
