Good Thursday all! Temporary cooling to more seasonable levels - TopicsExpress

Good Thursday all! Temporary cooling to more seasonable levels (after Wednesdays near 90-deg temp at Chicagos Midway airport) Thursday and Friday is to be accompanied by the easterly lake winds which blow nearly half the time in the the April/May period. But, expectations of warming over the Memorial Day weekend remain very much intact. And the pattern over the coming 2 weeks has a decidedly warmer look to it. An occasional day of easterly winds and the cooling they induce cant be ruled out--but the approach of meteorological summer and its warmer temps is clear from model runs into the medium range (10-16 day) range over the past week. And check out the extent of warmth around the planet as indicated in the temp departure forecast out in the 6 to 10 day range off the Weather Services GFS model. (Ive also posted 1-5 and 6-10 day forecasts of temp departures across North America--also generated by the GFS model). A panel depicting Memorial Day temps (on Monday) also appears. Dew points are to surge into the 60s, indicating the day wont only be warm--it will be humid as well! The NOAAs National Climatic Data Center reveals that, on a global basis, last month tied with 2010 as the planets warmest in April. Heres our Thursday blog post off our WGN Chicago Weather Center site. blog.chicagoweathercenter/2014/05/22/north-winds-to-shave-12-to-15-degrees-off-thursday-highs-temp-pullback-means-more-seasonable-readings/
