Good Tuesday AM! I have to say impressive to this video that was sent to me for review - though I am saddened that it must rely (presumably for shock value) on the implication that only when one becomes obese is there risk of sudden cardiac arrest. Poor, disease risk increasing eating & lifestyle doesnt always include the look of, nor even require, calorie overload. Think just 3 Ss for example: sedentary, salt excess & smoking all 3 can individually or in combo lead to early cardiovascular disease and cancer - especially sedentarism & smoking, but maybe excess salt too (no obesity required). So it obviously it isnt always this simple or clear cut. Nevertheless, there is definitely a message to be considered if we are going to be an honest society. So I think this piece is a Reality Meets Science worthy view and worth the watch. Its short and impactful. One message that stands out as a note to parents, coming from a kid who was over treated with junk n comfort food: patience please! dont go always for the quick junk food fix for those nagging or crying kids. No guilt intended here please! I DISAVOW SHAME BASED APPROACHES! Just the way it is. Believe me, and I adore them, but my parents did it too. They didnt mean to harm me. It was America, a new land of plenty to them. And heck! Over reliance on processed and/or comfort food, aka junk food (even home made - sorry awesome moms who may be TOO good at baking cookies n stuff too often!), is commonly socially encouraged! Its legal, pretty cheap (or so its thought - though obviously its not in the end game) and can put a temporary smile or temporary look of satisfaction on a kid or loved ones face. But beware, low interest rates put smile on face until balloon mortgage payment kicks in. And that can be a very unpleasant place to be. So take this message as you wish. But know Im sending it sincerely and without judgement.
