Good Tuesday Skyview Drivers and Fans! Margo here with another weekend review and what a weekend!!!!!!! First I have to start with some THANK YOUs and shout outs….a HUGE Thank You to Dote Racing and Chad Wilcox family for helping us put together another great Annual Chad Wilcox Memorial Bike/Sled Shootout!!! Thank You Kathy Kiekel for once again delivering a wonderful memorial ceremony!! Thank You to all the Drivers and Fans that came out to participate and watch and congrats to the Winners!! Thank You to our amazing Track Crew for getting the job done and done well and for hanging in there ALL weekend long!! Shout out to Mel Teed – thanks for giving Frank (lane “director” or aka track candy) his hell ride. He is still smiling and talking about it! Special shout out to our Announcer Gary Simons – and congrats on your upcoming wedding! Thanks to the Track Gods and Angels for giving us another great weekend of beautiful weather, great racing and no accidents!!! We had only a few breakdowns, minor in nature so no major delays. Friday brought out a lot of new faces Testing and Tuning for Saturday and Sunday and not just Bikes and Sleds. Legend Iggy Falcone came out to run his Super Pro ’65 GTO (which he bought brand new) both days. Saturday he made it into the 2nd round and Sunday he made it to the 4th round. Good show Iggy and sorry about mistaking the F in your car number for a J! And Iggy, please don’t wait another 10 years to come visit us again! Saturday was such an awesome day of racing even though we ran into Sunday morning! Along with our regular 6.60 points classes we had the Chad Wilcox Memorial Bike/Sled Shootout, Bike/Sled 6.50 race and Bike/Sled Sweet 16 race. We had over 200 entries in all the classes combined! In the Chad Wilcox Memorial Saturday there were 2 perfect .5000 lights – both occurring in Time Trials – Tony Germino and Derek Eastman. Khyle Jennison won Best Appearing, Ron Dean won Best 1st Round Closest to Winning Dial In (+.0029), and Jeremy Hutton won Best 1st Round Winning Reaction Time (.5058). Don Becker took the Win with Matt Luke as Runner Up. Congrats to you all! Saturday in Pro there weren’t any perfect lights but several “almost” lights - Larry Ward had the closest with a .5001 in Time Trials. The Finals had two drivers who made their first appearance at the track this year fighting it out for the win – Pete D’Agnolo took the Win with John Cira Jr as Runner Up in another of those very close races we have been having this year. In Super Pro Jim Potenziano Jr had the only perfect .5000 light in the 5th round and went on to end the night with Runner Up in the Finals with Tom Frank taking the Win (first for Tom this season at SV) in another oh so close race! Congrats to you both! In the regular 660 Bike/Sled race Dickie Reome gave up his usual Runner Up spot to Ron Dean and took the Winner spot Saturday. As many of you know, Dickie has consistently taken Runner Up so you can imagine how much this Win means. Congrats!!! In JR Dragsters, Jordan Hutton, Shane and Colby Bingel and Alex Collins all came out to play for the first time this season on Saturday – some are gearing up for next week’s JR Dragster Shootout. Welcome all and hope to see you next week! Sunday was quieter (was anyone really awake?) and was a shorter day but we still had all our regular 660 classes. Once again great weather and great racing! I want to send out a special Thank You to all of you that travel sooo far to race regularly at SV. I know it can be tough (and expensive) but I want you all to know we appreciate your loyalty to our track!!!! Thank you Ed Arnold for stepping up and singing the National Anthem when our usual singer Haley Teed wasn’t available. Ed is in a band but admits he is not a singer but still volunteered when no one else did. Although he did not receive a standing ovation the crowd did applaud his effort. Thanks again Ed! A special Congratulation to Glenna Erecitano – three races in a row with no Buy Backs!! (I hope I didn’t just jinx it for you Glenna!!) And congrats on making it to the Semi’s on Sunday! In JR Dragsters Paige Montgomery and Hayden Houghtalen played “switchem” on the top two spots – Paige Won on Saturday with Hayden as Runner Up and Sunday Hayden Won with Paige as Runner Up! Great job you two!! Super Pro ended with two tough competitors and friends Russ Denmark and Richie Forbes in the Final with Russ taking the Win. They both had almost identical dial ins, ETs and MPH so it was another nail biter race! Congrats to you both!! In Pro John Cira added to his Saturday Runner Up Final by taking the Win Sunday against Dave Fetterman – it all came down to the better reaction time. John also raced into the Street Money Final as Runner Up to Tim Wright’s Win. Congrats to you all! No perfect lights and only a few almost perfect lights on Sunday – Mel Teed had the closest with a .5009 in 1st round Eliminations in Pro. Matt Dunkle and Jim Stilloe both had problems in Time Trials and found other rides for Eliminations – Jim drove Manley Houghtalen’s pickup to at least get his point for Sunday’s race – Bob Hacker let Matt use his Super Pro and Matt did pretty good for driving a “new” rail making it into 3rd round Eliminations. Bob Hacker has loaned out his Super Pro often – do any of you know how many different numbers that rail has run under? Who can guess the correct number (no fair asking Bob!)? Up Coming Events: 8/16 is our JR Dragster Shootout with regular 660 race for all other classes – 8/23 Old School Nostalgia Night with Pro Stick Racing Series and regular 660 races for all classes – 8/30 and 8/31 Labor Day Weekend with 660 races for all classes AND Double Points on Sunday (8/31) for all classes.
