Good afternoon. I am writing you from northern New Mexico with a request for assistance. I am a volunteer with the Carson Volunteer fire District. I am sure that most of you are aware that NM is in a seriously dangerous drought. My department is about a year and a half old and we have limited resources as well as a very small budget. I am writing to you in hopes that some of the other departments may have extra gear that they will not need and be willing to donate to our department. We have 20 volunteers in our department and We are an urban interface department with a ton of training and limited resources. We are so rural that we are the only force against fires that are bound to come out way this season and the majority of our residents are older people with limited ability to evacuate easily. We dont need pretty or new equipment. We would love to have some pants and shirts, and boots you may have laying around and tools, we could use axes and shovels and any other equipment that my just be laying around. I would greatly appreciate if this letter could be forwarded to the members if this group. We are in desperate need of any and all things fire related. Not even everyone has a pack.
