Good afternoon, friends of Munchie. Its Dushi here. Nice to see you all and nice to meet the ones I hadnt met yet. I must admit its a nice birthday present of Munchie to let me have his page for a day. I can do with it what I want, he says, except for insult or delete friends. I wont delete any and Ill try not to insult any either. So we celebrate my 19th birthday today. If I was a human, it would have been my 92nd. Its supposed to be quite old, but I dont feel that old at all. No one knows exactly when my birthday is. I could be a couple of months older or younger, but no more than that. The human talked to a neighbor in the neighborhood where she lived then and where I used to live on the streets, and he knew me as a kitten. He saved my life by cutting off the collar I was wearing as a kitten. My first human left me behind when he moved house. I was still small then, but wearing a collar. It got tighter and tighter as I grew and at some point it actually started to grow into my skin. If the nice old man hadnt removed it, I would even have made it to my 1st birthday... But ok, Munchie told me some of you asked about how me and the human met, so heres my story: There was a whole lot of strays and ferals in the neighborhood where I grew up, but also a lot of humans who fed them. My current human was one of them. I came to her front yard several times a day to eat. There was always either kibbles or wet food there. And when she saw me, she came to me to talk to me and pet me. I was a popular girl with the male strays and ferals, and had kittens every year. In 2001 I had the last four of my life. Two of them didnt make it. Cant remember if they were born dead, or died right after birth, but the young human who found us, found 2 dead and 2 live kittens. She was the granddaughter of the man who saved my life and told her mother about us. I had my babies in a playground and the mother knew that was not a good place for us, with all the little children running around there. So the mother took us away from there and placed us in her backyard. Only she had a little dog too and theres nothing more in the world I hate more than dogs, so I couldnt stay there. The lady then went to the human that is now mine. She knew she already had cats and asked her if she could take care of me. As we all know, she said yes. The plan was to find forever homes for my babies, have me spayed and let me go back to the colony. Well, she found forever homes for my babies and had me spayed. And thats where the plan changed. One of my babies was very slow. She started eating cat food after almost 2 months, so she had to stay with me longer than normal, cause she needed my milk longer. The longer I stayed in the house, the more the human got attached to me. And even though I did not get along with the three male cats that already lived there, the human let me stay even after my last baby was adopted. And even though I did not like those three males one bit, I was glad she did. There was a ferret and several pet rats living in the house too then. I kinda liked the rats. I surprised the human by not harming, or trying to eat them. I liked them best when they were in a cage, but they were ok too when the human took them out. The ferret was... ok. Never really liked her, but never hated her either. Im a human cat. I dont like cats, I HATE dogs and I dont care about other animals, unless theyre birds, mice or fish I get to eat. The human soon enough found out she couldnt keep me indoors. I love having a forever home, but I love the freedom outside too. I go crazy when Im locked indoors for too long. I need the fresh air and the freedom. Yeah, I know its not always safe outdoors. I know like no other. But humans get car accidents and still drive too, right? So this is how my current life started. Im glad I met my human and even though I dont always agree with her, I love her anyway. The pics are from my early days with my current human. The first one is taken on the day the human took me in. My babies were one day old then. The second one is from about a week later, when I felt a little more confident already in the house. (I adapted really quick.) The third one is a couple of weeks after that, with the one baby that was slow, just before she was adopted. I remember she was named Maggie. I dont know yet if Ill post again today. Maybe if I think of something I like to tell you guys about, or maybe if one of you has an interesting question. Ill answer questions you have for me anyway, but I think Munchie already explained that to you. So ask or comment away! ~Dushi~
