So where the early disciples, soon after Jesus ascended, despite being told that No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. “ Mark 13:32 In 1886, shortly after the Civil War here in the US, a group of believer sat in a church listening to their pastor proclaim the return of the Lord. Using the word he proclaimed that all the signs of the Lords immediate return was standing in front of them. He even went as far as to proclaim the date of the Lord return as he told the congregation to prepare. After proclaiming that the members needed to separate themselves from the world around them as they prepared. The members of the church began to sell everything they had, including their homes, knowing they could not take their belongings or wealth with them. The day proclaimed as the day the Lord would return, came and went as the pastor proclaimed that the date was a year off. Saying that the Lord would return the fallowing year. That date also came and went, and with it the church split. One shoot became the Seventh-day-Adventist. With each generation since the Lord ascended, believers have stood and looked heaven words and proclaimed that their generation would see the Lord return. Each could use the word to prove it, as they sat and waited. And that was the problem, they sat and waited. They did very little to prepare the next generation to stand against the powers of darkness, or to become ministers of the word. Why should they waist their time , when the Lord is returning in their generation. And yet, as believers we have been called to train the next generation of Christians to be minister the Gospel. But more than that, we are to teach them how to plant seeds of hope.How to build a sound relationship with the Lord based on Gods love and grace, not promote fear of being left behind. In these last days, we most begin to be the ministers that God has called us to be , begining in our own homes. Let us start planting seeds of Hope in these last days and take out eyes off the signs, and instead upon the author of our faith.
