Good day folks! Nine days before I depart for that magical land! So, what will I be doing? Certainly I have spoken of how I very much want to get into the Kibera slums to open my heart and mind to reality there. From that experience and relationships started, well, God alone knows my course. I also very much hope to spend a few days at a ministry in Nakuru and participate and observe there. And of course, play with the children. The laugh of an African child strikes something special in my heart - always has. But outside of these very intentional pursuits are some bits of exploration of Kenyas natural offerings. So what I will do is from day to day post some info on each place I will be, Lord willing, backpacking/hiking into. It may be with a buddy over there (I hope) or it may be solo or a mix of both. Mt. Longonot: A dormant volcano estimated to have last erupted in the mid 1800s, and standing an estimated 750 meters above the Great Rift Valley, and 2776 meters above sea level. It dominates the landscape and has lava canyons, steep slopes, and a circular caldera over a km in diameter. It is home to several animal species including buffalos, antelope, and leopards.
