Last night saw Argentine midfielder Angel Di Maria score the only goal of the game in the 118th minute during extra time to see Argentina past Switzerland. In the second and highly entertaining fixture we saw Belgium and U.S.A play to goalless draw and saw 3 goals scored in extra time. Belgium progressing as 2-1 winners on the night. France. Germany, Argentina and Belgium now join Brazil, Colombia, Netherlands and Costa Rica in the quarterfinals which will be played on Friday and Saturday. Netherlands midfielder Nigel de Jong will miss the remainder of the World Cup after sustaining a groin injury in Sundays match against Mexico. Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid after meeting the Spain internationals buy-out clause and will roughly pay a fee of €44m for the striker.
