RESIGNATION OF THE IEC CHAIRPERSON 2 September 2014 The Office of the ANC Chief Whip notes and accepts the resignation of Advocate Pansy Tlakula from her position as the Chairperson of the Independent Electoral Commission, effective from 30 September. Her resignation today closes what has undoubtedly been a difficult chapter both for her and the institution she has loyally served for many years. Through her various leadership roles at the IEC, Adv Tlakula made an immense contribution to the institutions continuous management of highest quality and efficient elections. We are confident that the IEC will continue to live up to its excellent reputation of presiding over free, fair, transparent and credible election as it had done since the dawn of democracy in1994.
