Good evening Dragoon families and friends, it’s been a hectic - TopicsExpress

Good evening Dragoon families and friends, it’s been a hectic few days here with three very senior companies finishing up their training and making sure that we’re attending to all the requisite details associated with that. The weather is getting a bit warmer but it’s still unseasonably cool and everyone is enjoying it very much. Today the Command Sergeant Major and I attended a couple of critical events, and we’ve got one left for later on tonight before we get to call it a day. Needless to say, there is always something going on in the Dragoon Battalion! And now for the update: Alpha Company (Week 1): Alpha Rock carried on with its in-processing and integration week. Lots of classes were held and the trainees sat through even more lectures. They are almost assuredly ready to get out of the classroom and head out to the Confidence Course tomorrow. Bravo Company (Week 9): The Bulldogs finished up their Field Training Exercise this afternoon and are at this moment right in the middle of a 16 kilometer foot march in full combat equipment. Once they finish up their foot march Sergeant Major Cunningham and I will meet them at 9 p.m. tonight for their “Rite of Passage” ceremony. I am definitely looking forward to it. Charlie Company (Week 2): The Comanches are in their second day of First Aid training and have been learning quite a lot about battlefield triage and first-responder actions. Tomorrow they will finish up the instructional portion and move on to the exams. If they pass they will become officially “Combat Life Saver” certified. Delta Company (Graduation Week): The Dawgs graduated today! Command Sergeant Major Cunningham and I had the privilege of attending the ceremony and watched as the young men and women marched across the stage. We handed out some Army Achievement Medals to a number of them who got a perfect score on their Army Physical Fitness Tests, and then later had the opportunity to meet with some of the parents. Everyone looked very sharp today! Echo Company (Week 9): The Eagles also finished up FTX III and held their “Rite of Passage” ceremony out in the field earlier this evening. The Sergeant Major and I were proud to be present as they officially ceased being “trainees” and were inducted into the profession of arms. They are now U.S. Army Soldiers. It was great to see all the smiling faces and look of pride as we shook the hands of each and every one of them. It’s been a long day today but I’m still looking forward to seeing Bravo Company later tonight. I am sure it will be a terrific ceremony standing in front of the bon fire, getting their battalion coins and singing along to the Army Song. I for one never get tired of it. Everyone have a wonderful evening. “By Force and Valor!” Lieutenant Colonel Gries Dragoon 6
