Good evening! I just wanted to put something out there because I get a lot of people asking this question daily when they inquire about a session. Once people are told the session fee they immediately ask What does that include? I just wanted to let you know that us photographers do not operate the same as Sears, Walmart, The picture people and those photo places that are in the mall etc. Once you pay the session fee you dont get a ton of photos or anything with it for that matter. When you pay the session fee, that money is covering our time, talent, cost of travel, all of the editing we do etc. All of the prints and canvass and what not are coming from a professional lab, it isnt like we are printing them out right there in our living rooms. I know that paying a session fee and then turning around and actually having to pay for your photos is upsetting to most of you but you must realize that we have to make money too. Us as photographers have put soo much time and money into our business as it is and we need to make money vs lose money. We spend/spent thousands of dollars on equipment, gear, editing software, laptops/computers, all types of insurance like liability, gear etc. Lawyers, websites, business cards and the list goes on. Its hard because most people want professional photos for free or next to nothing and it just cannot work that way. Having professional photos of you, or your family is a luxury so if you cannot afford a photographers prices then you must wait until you can or just save up for it the very same way you save up for everything else in life that you really want. So please stop trying to hustle your photographer. I made the mistake of being too cheap or free and bending over backwards for friends but that is something that I am no longer doing. The only time I will do free sessions is when I am looking to try something out as far as in idea or something...but even then there will always be a catch. Most of the problems I have ever had involving clients just ALWAYS happened to be the clients that I bended over backwards for. The ones who I did a free session for or the ones who I did a session for for half of the price, they took advantage of me and thought they were entitled to EVERYTHING for free. As far as the clients that respect me and honor my work and never complain about my prices...those are the best clients ever. So please respect your photographer, respect their prices, respect all of the work they are doing for you and respect that they have bills too and TAXES to pay as well. So next time you ask what the session fee includes? The answer is...YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER!! lol
