Good evening, UK Evening Forecast – 17th June Synoptic - TopicsExpress

Good evening, UK Evening Forecast – 17th June Synoptic situation: High pressure remains slow-moving to the west of Northern Ireland and is the dominant feature. However a set of weak weather fronts moving south will bring some patchy outbreaks of rain or a few showers to northern and eastern parts of the UK tonight. Tonight’s outlook: This evening will be mostly fine and dry across much of central and southern England along with much of Wales, the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland. There will also be some sunny spells across the rest of England including the Channel Islands but overall there will be more in the way of cloud drifting down from the north across the rest of the country. The thicker cloud is bringing some outbreaks of rain and drizzle to the far north and west of Scotland, including the Northern and Western Isles, whilst a few heavy showers are now breaking out over southern Scotland to the south and west of Edinburgh. Looking at tonight’s forecast and for central, southern and south-eastern England, including the Isle of Wight, along with the Midlands, East Anglia, eastern and north-eastern England there will be a lot of cloud drifting further south tonight and this cloud will tend to thicken up overnight with a few spots of light rain or drizzle developing in places. Over southwest England, the Channel Islands, south Wales, the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland it will be a mostly dry night with variable amounts of cloud and plenty of clear spells. Under clear skies, some mist patches may form by the morning, especially over Wales and southwest England. Meanwhile over the rest of western and north-western England, it will become increasingly cloudy from the north with a few scattered showers moving south but many places will miss these. Meanwhile for most of Scotland any evening showers will drift away to the south to leave a mostly dry night with some clear spells forming. Some mist and low cloud will develop later in the night, especially around northern and eastern coasts. For much of the country winds will be light to moderate north/north-easterlies, brisk close to the east coast, but they will be more north-westerly in direction over Scotland. Temperatures over England and Wales, including the Isle of Wight, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands will drop down to minimums of 11°C to 13°C, but over Scotland and Northern Ireland lows of between 9°C and 11°C are likely. Wednesday: For much of the UK it will be another dry day with sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud, some of the cloud slow to break up in places, especially over central and eastern parts of England. A few scattered showers are again likely to break out in places, but these will be fairly isolated. Ill be back in the morning, Paul
