Good evening e-sport fans. Well after 3 exciting months Season 17 of the European Quake League reached its climax last night with the division 1 final between reigning champions Sudden Death and the power house that is The Viper Squad. First map, dm3, provided some exciting team play action for the hundreds of spectators on QTV and Twitch. After some epic fighting [tVS] managed to gain the upper hand and take the map 231 - 172. Next up was dm2 and the gloves really came of. Spearheaded by legendary player Milton, [tVS] launched an unstoppable assault against [SD] and dominated from the start. The end result was an impressive 285 - 165 victory for [tVS], with Milton alone scoring 101 frags! With their the title slipping from their grasp [SD] needed to pull out all the stops on the third map e1m2. And for the first 15 minutes it looked like they could force the match to go the full 5 rounds as again and again they pushed [tVS] back and quickly built momentum, at one point having 4 rocket launchers on the board. But [tVS] rallied in just 3 minutes pulled back a 60 frag deficit to take the lead, their superior team play proving just to much for the champions. The lead changed hands several times and despite [SD]BPS pulling of 3 excellent quad runs in the last 2 minutes [tVS] hung on, taking the map by a single frag 216 -215! So congratulation to Milton and the boys for reclaiming their throne as champions of Europe. Commiserations to Sudden Death.
