Good evening, everyone. I would like to take a few minutes to share some news with all of you before I make the public announcement on my personal page. Some of you are going to be very excited by it while others may not take it as well, so it is my intention to address it as completely as possible here to help prevent rumors or misperceptions before they can begin. Several of you have reached out to me over the last week or so with the question, What are you going to do if the Seahawks want you to go to the Super Bowl? After all, the Opening Day of FLOAT is Super Bowl Sunday. But they went to the Super Bowl last year and they didnt do anything out of the ordinary, so my response to everyone has been the same; Yeah, right. Like that would ever happen. Well…..apparently things have changed with their return trip to the big show.... Yes, I have been asked by the Seattle Seahawks to travel to Phoenix in a week and do their balloon decor for the 12th Man Celebration Party at Chase Field as part of the pre-Super Bowl festivities. And yes, I have accepted it. How will this affect FLOAT? Honestly, very little. My involvement with the event in Phoenix will take place before FLOAT technically begins. Everything for the 12th Man celebration has to be set and in place by 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 31st, so myself and fellow FLOATer Alexa Rivera (aka la Jefa) will fly into Arizona on the 30th and pull a near all-nighter to get the decor ready. After a quick bite to eat and some photos, we are back on a plane and headed to the convention smack in the middle of the Large Sculpture competition. During the 30 or so hours Ill be gone, Rose TristnShout and Carl N. Woody will be running the show. They will be handling everything with convention prep and the competitions until I can get back. The three of us have discussed the situation and both are completely confident that they can handle the slower paced Saturday while Im away. Keep in mind, I made it very clear to the event management company and the Seahawks that there was no way I could even consider this responsibility if it was going to affect me being away from the convention on Sunday, February 1st when everything starts to go crazy. And as proof of my airline tickets, it will not. And I thought I was busy now….
