Good evening everyone. Its amazing how time flies. I didnt realize its already been a week since my last post. And it has been a busy week for sure. Cory is doing OK with his weekly visit at the neurosurgeon. Next week he is scheduled for the cognitive testing. I was not aware that it was such a long process. The test itself is 6 hours long. Cory cant sit that long so they are going to break it up into two, possibly three sessions. Its comprehensive and designed to test his current brain activity and look toward his future potential. I think were pretty sure how his current eval is going to come out. We are really concerned about how he may turn out down the road a few months or years. We do know he is taking small steps everyday. For a while there I couldnt see it. Now however improvements appear to be much more noticeable. The eating is under control. His stomach and brain are finally communicating so he actually knows now when he is full. His short term memory is getting better as well. He still forgets what he did today or just an hour ago but there are some things he retains very well. Its really weird how that happens. Today for example he went to therapy then spent the day with Thomas. Tonight at dinner he didnt remember any of that. But after we gave him a hint that he was with Thomas, he remembered almost every thing they did. Its very strange.... I guess you have to experience this to understand. His pain level is still sitting at about a 3 or 4 depending on the time of day. He still has problems sleeping and ends up roaming around the house all night long. Most of the time he ends up in one of the recliners where we find him at 3 a.m. We send him back to bed but when I get up at 5 for work, hes usually back in the chair. The medical professionals all told us recovery would be over a year, maybe two.We still don know what recovery looks like or what his MMI will be but we have 7 plus months under our belt now. All we can do is move forward right? Before I go, I wanted to extend a special thank you to Scheyla. She is a customer service representative for a company I have been dealing with for about four months now. Before she stepped in to help, I was up against a wall and getting nowhere real fast. Thanks to her, things started moving and they are still moving today. In this world there are still angels out there. So Schelya, Ive told Cory what youve done for him and he wanted you to know how much he appreciates your help. Have a great night.
