Good evening to our extended Dragoon Family. I would like to - TopicsExpress

Good evening to our extended Dragoon Family. I would like to thank everyone for their patience since I was unable to get an update out yesterday. The Command Sergeant Major and I had another late night out in the training areas so I did not have time available. I will try and take this opportunity to get everyone caught up over the last 48 hours. And now for the update: Bravo Company (Week 8): The Bulldogs recovered on Thursday from a very hot and exhausting day out at NIC on Wednesday night. They slept in a bit and then went to the classroom for instruction on defeating Improvised Explosive Devices. Later they worked on a Drill and Ceremony (marching) competition to see who had the best platoon. Today they were close to the company area getting mission briefings and conducting rehearsals before heading out to the field next week for FTX III. Charlie Company (Week 1): The Comanches did some more briefings yesterday. Today they did their first official event and participated in the team development obstacle course. It is the first of many “Confidence Courses” they will do over the course of the upcoming weeks—and these are normally very popular events with the trainees. They typically have a very good time with this. Delta Company (Week 9): The Sergeant Major and I were out in the training area late last night as D Company wrapped up their Field Training Exercise and conducted their “Rite of Passage” ceremony. This is where we officially welcome them into the professional of arms—it also marks the transition from “trainee” to “Soldier.” They are now officially U.S. Army Soldiers, and we were proud to officially welcome them into our ranks. Echo Company (Week 8): The Eagles spent Thursday getting ready to deploy for FTX III next week and recovering from their night fires on Wednesday. Today they did the Buddy Team Live Fires and maneuvered down a series of lanes firing live ammunition while covering each other’s tactical movement toward limited objectives. It was a physically exhausting event today, but they will get an opportunity to rest this weekend. It’s been a busy week here but we accomplished quite a lot. Delta Company is now in the last stretch and we look forward to graduation day. Tomorrow we will welcome a new company of trainees into Alpha Company as they begin their introduction to all things Army. Have a wonderful evening. “By Force and Valor” Lieutenant Colonel Gries Dragoon 6
