Good for the earth, good for veterans, and good for Arcadia! Our friend Justen Garrity, an Iraq War veteran, started Veteran Compost after returning from the war when he had a hard time finding employment (did you know veterans are 40 percent more likely than other Americans to start a business?). Justen has offered to make Arcadia a non-profit beneficiary! Heres what it means for you: sign up for Veteran Composts weekly residential service (just $25 a month) and mention Arcadia when you contact them… that will get the ball rolling. Well get $1 every month that you participate as a customer. VC will give you a 7-gallon bin and will pick it up once a week. You can put ALL of those food scraps you generate -- including meat and dairy! -- every week in the bin, and they will pick it up and replace it with a clean bin. And twice a year you will get a 25lb bag of compost! If you dont have a garden you can designate Arcadia to get that compost in your place. Reducing waste and greenhouse gases, helping to employ veterans in service to the earth, and supporting Arcadia to boot! VC serves everywhere around and within the Beltway. Sign up, mention Arcadia, and start composting!
