Good morning Bernie, today, 9/10/2014, will be my 1st year that I will not hear the Jamaican version of my Pop-Pops, Happy Birthday To You song, on my birthday, 9/11. They say give it time, pray on it, give it to god, etc...but I have to be very honest with myself, it does not feel like it is getting any better. At 44 yrs. of age, I feel such a void within my spirit, mind and heart, that I attempt to heal, each day, with my memories, prayers and visions, that I imagine when I look into any space, and see his peaceful face. I even sometimes wonder how I can not call my sister, so that we can remember together, as SISTERS, and not just two women that live in different cities, who have both, lost a father. My two friends from school, Yolanda and Sherry, owners of Plum Day Spa,are sisters. I mean they are a beautiful example of what sisters are. I have never told you two this, but I admire your respect, honor and dedication to one another. So much. I am not even allowed to visit my sisters home, nor did I have the pleasure to see her dedicate her life, to the man whom she is still with, today. I was not in the wedding, nor was I invited as a guest. Wow!!!! I say all this to gain strength in my pain, and I am giving today, my effortless attempt for positive and happy thoughts. Today , I accept change, knowing that it is a good thing and that great things can result from it. But I also accept that some things will never, ever change, and with age, comes much wisdom. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BERN-OUT, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! I miss you Sheriff...
