Good morning FBB ...I have been very heavy in my heart this past week over the permanent dissolution of a friendship of 6 years...coincidence?? perhaps...what is really painful is the reason why we are no longer friends... A fine upstanding lady of society who lives in Port Alberni, a local business woman decides to in box my daughter and me about the First Nations culture that we are part of. My daughter is a Tseshaht First Nations girl and I have traced one line of my ancestry to North American Indians Chippewa Sioux background. My strongest ancestral root is French, followed by three that are pretty much tied, Scottish, German, Italian....and then one great great grandmother that was North American Indian.... For some reason this means that I am officially a red skin and she is white. Now if you want to be a racist Canadian, that is none of my concern, your opinions are just that...yours... and everyone has a right to their own opinion.... however...when I lose work because of the color of my great great grandmothers skin... and when my daughter gets messages such as this one Do you think that you are exempt from being accountable as member of society. Do you really think that you deserve more than I because you are First Nations? then I get messages like this one : When will you both get off assistance? Honestly I pay for your life and your daughters and children. I work, I pay tax I do not get a day off, I lend a hand , I am nice I give employment. Totally had. Somehow the work that is done is somehow not really work it is turned into support of me and my daughter....it turns into she pays taxes so I and my First Nations daughter can stand here with our hands out and somehow get a free ride!!! Well I have news for you... I am not on any free ride... I am borrowing money from both Federal and Provincial government agencies just like many other Canadians who are trying to better their lives by getting an education. This woman doesnt understand that the money I am borrowing is money I will have to pay back when I have completed my degree and am employed... Now I knew she was a bit racist.... but I had no idea just how deep her racism goes... and if i was like her... I would gladly tell you the name of her business as well as her name.... but I am nothing like her...so FBB... I am dealing with an issue as old as time.... and once again I have been made to look the bad guy....while this white woman continues her rampage of slander and insults to First Nations people. I am sure if they knew who she was they would never do business with her ever again and they certainly would never purchase her products.... Have a wonderful day FBB... I have let these words out so now they are free to travel around the world...
