Good morning, Here in New Jersey it is warm, but very rainy. I am so lucky that I am dry and safe. I have been told that many cats never live inside, in a loving home, but live outside in cold, rain, sleet and snow. Gabby called and I told him about my friend Frosty. He said that he knew a cat, a few years ago, Balder the Brave, who almost froze to death as well. Balder, about 6 months old, was lying in the street, in the snow almost frozen solid. A caring person scooped him up and brought him to Liberty Humane in Jersey City. (Luckily Balder the Brave is a black, long haired cat, so he could be easily seen). Some volunteers quickly warmed him up and rushed him to a nearby vet. That vet made him warm, but thought that he would never recover. His mouth was so bad due to frostbite, he was afraid he would never be able to eat or drink. My maidservant, called her friend, Amy, who runs a rescue for Special Needs animals, Angels of Animals, and she suggested that her vet, who treats her special needs rescued animals, might be able to help. Another volunteer drove him there, he recovered and is now living the good life, although he dribbles a bit. He was in the hospital for more than a week and he fell in love with everyone there and them with him. He was so, so happy to feel better. So, I thought I would share some very inexpensive, winter shelters you can make yourself. Remember to use straw inside to make the shelter warm and cozy. Of course winter and cold are not at all funny, but Fancy insists on making you laugh anyway. He believes laughing is very important. Where do ghosts buy their food? At the GHOSTery Store. Why did the skeleton stand in the corner during his prom? He had no body to dance with! Fancy, is right, that laughing is important. He always just cracks me up.
