Good morning Hobbyists. Well I spent my weekend reading some amazing Black Library books and FINALLY getting a start on my Empire army! With the rise of Nagash clearly set to take the hobby centre by storm (hopefully mine arrives with todays delivery!), I thought it appropriate to organise the stalwart defefenders of Wissenland to protect the lands of men. This first unit of 20 Crossbowmen are the Pfeildorf 31st Crimson Cockades. The unit was commissioned over 50 years ago when a pretender to the lost throne of Solland attempted to secede from the Empire. The then Elector Count ordered wide-scale recruitment across the province and sent his army into battle. To distinguish themselves from their human adversaries (mostly rogues and neer-do-wells from the Border Princes), the Counts forces wore crimson cockades and armbands. The battle took place in the foothills of the Grey Mountains, west of Pfeildorf, and turned into a massacre when the traitor was revealed as a pawn of the Skaven of Clan Mortkin. The Pfeildorf 31st were the only troops to make it back, carrying the warning of the Skaven to the Count and giving the forces of the Empire time to rally and prepare. As is traditional for the Cockades, seniority in the unit is not assigned to the Marksman, but rather the Bannerman; Helmut Feierbach is the last surviving member of the original 31st and bears the banner and honour of his unit proudly in the service of the Countess Emannuelle. Do you work up little histories for your units? I find that when Im constructing the models, thats where my mind automatically goes. Leave a comment about one of your favourite home-brew characters or units. Dont forget to grab your copy of White Dwarf 32 before its too late. Theres another cracking battle report in this week, this time between the forces of Nagash and the Emperor Karl Franz himself! And of course, Warhammer: Visions is new out this week! Get even more Armies on Parade inspiration or just pick it up for more drooling over gorgeously painted miniatures! Speaking of Armies on Parade, hovering behind the Cockades you might just see a little something that will be making an appearance in my display! :) Finally, dont forget that this month is the final month for the Legacy of the Damned campaign. I see that hobbyists are using the page to set up their battles, and that is great! I think Ty is keen for a game this afternoon if anyone is keen! Please remember to book your battles where possible, as Storm of Magic games can take a little while longer (especially while we learn) and its important to give everyone a chance to experience this amazing way to play Warhammer. Cheers Patrick
