Good morning. Its a beautiful day in the lovely lakes region of New Hampshire. Its 71 and the wind is starting to pick up again. Im thinking were either heading to the lake tomorrow or Tuesday. Its nice that we can pick and choose when we go. Toms doing some work outside today. Its cool right now, so hes going to the construction site down the street and bringing back wheelbarrows of dirt, LOL... Its not topsoil that they dropped, its just dirt thats been piled up into small mountains, LOL... We have permission to take it. So, I learned something new a couple of days ago. I always thought porcupines shoot their quills. They dont. Theyre loose and when they are touched by another animal (or person), they stick into the attacker. They then inflate with air. Thats why you cant just pull them out. What you do if you have a quill in you is to cut off the tip. It deflates and you can easily pull it out. A naturalist told me that... See - you can teach an old dog new tricks, LOL LOL The rain really helped the grass seed grow. My yard looks like it hasnt been mowed in weeks, yet its only been 6 days!!! My roses took a toll with the heavy rains, but my Stella DOro lillies are incredible! Time to help Tom outside...and give him calcium to make sure he doesnt go into another low...
