Good morning... Risk of Severe Weather: Low, Locally Moderate (Ireland) Significant Weather: Heavy Rain Wind: W or NW light or moderate, backing SW’ly and becoming fresh or strong in the W. Summary: A mainly dry day for many central and eastern areas of the UK with bright or sunny spells, but becoming increasingly wet and windy from the west through the day. Forecast: A chilly start to the day with some patchy frost in places, otherwise most areas are dry with bright or sunny spells. As the day progresses many central, southern and eastern areas of England and Scotland will maintain dry weather with bright or sunny spells until sunset despite a likely increase in medium and upper level cloud through the day. Across Ireland outbreaks of rain will develop through the rest of the morning and become locally heavy. As we move into the afternoon and evening this large area of rain will move into western areas of Scotland, W Wales and SW England then on into the evening and overnight spread across many areas of the UK with just E Anglia and SE England hanging on to dry weather for the first part of tonight. Accompanying the rain will be an increasingly strong wind and also some extensive low cloud and hill fog. Above 400m to 500m across central Scotland a spell of snow is possible for a time too this evening, especially across the mountains. Temperatures will be near to average today with highs ranging between 4C and 8C across most areas, but perhaps just 2C or 3C across inland areas of Central Scotland. Temperatures will rise however in association with the wet weather spreading from the west and by the evening temperatures may well be up to 10C to 12C across Ireland as a significant warm sector moves over Ireland and this will then continue to progress across all areas of the UK overnight tonight leading to a very mild night on Tuesday night.
