Good morning. We are happy to be able to say that Mike continues to feel good. Yesterday was therapy day at Kessler. Every day when Mike gets out of therapy he has a big smile on his face and is anxious to say how well the session went. Yesterday he was proud to say that he was able to be even more upright in the standing frame. Mike is a hard worker in therapy and enjoys every minute of it. He is definitely reaping the rewards of his efforts in therapy, both mentally and physically. Mike is always talking about how he wants to help others with SCI and to bring awareness of SCI, knowing our son the way we do, we know he will someday. Yesterday while waiting for his therapy session to start, Mike struck up a conversation with a gentleman that was also paralyzed. They spoke a few minutes about all things SCI related. Mike learned how that man has been dealing with being a Quad for 31 years. He told Mike that his injury was at C-1 and he wasnt expected to live. His injury happened when he was 11 years old and today not only is he alive, but is married and has a job, he is more than alive, he is living a productive life. When Mike went into the gym Dad continued to speak to him and his wife. As it turns out he and some of his other handicapped friends speak to students and had spoken to the students at Monroe Twp HS after Mikes injury. Mikes younger brother Brian had told us months ago about the talk by those men in school. Brian thought they were the coolest guys and was so impressed by their attitude. When after therapy Mike learned of that connection, he said he wanted to do the same thing. Mike knows that even from a wheelchair he can make a difference in the world and plans on doing just that. We ask you all to pray along with us for Mikes continued recovery, and his will to fight to remain strong, so that someday Mike will be able to help others as he wants to. Thanks Chris and Steve
