Good morning. Weather wise here in Baltimore, expecting a unsettled day, especially this afternoon. For today, partly sunny. Numerous showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Some storms could become severe with damaging wind gusts, highs in the mid 90s. Southwest winds 5-10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Tonight: Scattered showers and thunderstorms this evening. Becoming partly cloudy overnight. Lows in the upper 60s in the suburbs, mid 70s downtown. Light winds. Chance of rain 30 percent. Thursday: partly sunny with numerous showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, a few could be strong by afternoon. Highs in the upper 80s. Sout winds 10-20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. For this afternoon, there is a slight risk for severe thunderstorms in the outlook area serving the mid Atlantic and the Baltimore/Washington metro areas. The primary severe hazards are damaging wind gusts, marginally severe hail, and frequent dangerous lightning strikes. Last evening as a line of storms passed through Baltimore metro, there was a 59 mph gust in glyndon, and a 61 mph gust at the Martin state airport AWOS site in the severe outflow gusts associated with that system. A similar situation could be seen later today in severe thunderstorms with outflow gusts of 60-70 mph. Also when thunder roars, move indoors. Lightning is one of the natures number one killers. If you hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. We will monitor the potential weather developments throughout the day.
