Good morning! Weve been very busy! John McDonald just presented before CEMA (Chatham Emergency Management Agency) Hurricane Conference about the importance of having interpreters available at time of disaster. We understand it was most appreciated and very well received. Laura George just presented at the EMAG (Emergency Management Agency Georgia) Conference about the importance of networking and positive collaboration between emergency management and persons with disabilities. Highlights were demonstrations on how a shelter can have persons with more then one disability that might need assistance; as well as an opportunity to present awareness of the need for better communication to the Deaf & 2nd Language communities in major chaotic events. Upcoming events that you may be interested in attending are an emergency preparedness summit at Cobb-Douglas the first week in May and another in Clayton on May 13th. Other events to be posted in the near future.
