Good morning. We’re still busy with maintenance, improvements, - TopicsExpress

Good morning. We’re still busy with maintenance, improvements, tidying and weeding here at the centre. The weather is still pretty mild which helps. We’re also collecting a good deal of compost for the gardens. The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) are saying that Britains gardeners are using too much peat compost. They suggest that it is harmful because it leads to further depletion of peat bogs in countries such as Ireland and the Baltic states, which supply most of our peat. We use coir here at the centre - it’s a natural fibre extracted from the husk of coconut – we mix this with other natural compost material such as garden waste and leaves for our seed sowing. :-) bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25760294
