Good morning and Happy New Year! I finally was able to get ahold of my daughter in Mexico and of course my 12 year old granddaughter. They are doing well. They live in a one room apartment in downtown Cancun. They have struggled to make ends meet always and still never give up. Something very scary happened a few days ago. Kemre was home alone while her mom was at work. A man with a bar in his hand entered her open door and threw Spanish words at her. Kemre froze and didnt understand his words. He took her new tablet and all her hard work she had been working on, her moms computer, and all their money. She was hysterical afterwards with grief. She sat and wrote four pages of her thoughts. Why? Why? Why do we have so much bad luck. Why did this happen again? Why is life so hard? Why when my mom tries so hard, do things always go to such a struggle. Then she turned it around and said nothing will stop me from pursuing my dreams to be a doctor, nothing will stop me from loving everyone I meet and being kind to others. I am a strong girl and I wont let anything stop me from being happy. When her mom arrived home she was a mess with worry. Then she found Kemres letter and read it. The next day she went back to work with a smile on her face, a positive outlook and the most loving attitude towards people and life. If Kemre can change things around so beautifully then I must too. I am so proud of my granddaughter and daughter. They are amazing people. You have no idea how hard their lives have been. Yet they have the greatest gifts of all: love, hope, forgiveness, perseverance, and the most open of hearts to hold on to an amazing attitude towards all people.
