Good morning everyone. As I mentioned yesterday I had an appointment with my Oncologist, Dr. Limbaugh to discuss the Chemotherapy treatments. It turns out that I will have 4 treatments, 1 every 3 weeks beginning on Monday, 22nd of September. This is sooner than I originally had planned which the second week of October was. The treatments Ill be getting is one that last 20 minutes using the drug Alimta, and 1 hour of the drug Cisplatin followed by a flush of liquids to clear the kidneys and other organs. Each treatment will should take around 4.5 hours. The following the treatments they advise that I restrict visits to only those that are well since my immune system will be lowered as a result of the treatment. I guess Ill need to put a sign on my office door, but I have a young lady that works with me that is already my Gate Keeper, Donna Carter, who insures that no one comes in my office that even has a sniffle. Good for her. She looks out for me. They are going to give me medicine that should control the side effects of the treatment, which arent that many. LOL. The only sides are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dry skin, sores in the month, hair loss, sensitive to cold, fatigue, anemia, leukopenia, neuropathy (tingle in fingers and toes), and thrombocytopenia (low platelets). But you know what; God can handle all of this and much more. I pray again that the modern medicine coupled with Gods intervention will eliminate the bulk of these side effects if not all. Praise God for his wonderful works. Needless to say I am not looking forward to this round, but I do know based on what I am hearing it is a necessary part of cleansing my blood to insure that any bad cells are removed. Im all for that I can assure you. Enough about me, now lets talk about others in need. I got an update on Joe Byrd yesterday. Hospice is still coming in daily with Mr. Byrd and Mrs. Mary. He is very weak at this time. I tried to call yesterday, but the number I had was no longer in service. Ill follow up again with John and Leslie Lowe for any additional numbers that I may use to contact Mrs. Byrd. May God comfort them both during this time of need. Sis has a good day yesterday as the therapy has ramped up a bit with getting in and out, up and down out of a chair and using the walker to walk to various places. Therapist is making her do things independent of immediate assistance which is what she will need when she gets out of Westwood. This is all good to hear, since Sis wants to be out in two weeks. At this rate, she may just make it. Praise God for her progress. God has been good to her, at age 82 the healing process has been awesome. Pray for Scooter and Debra, about the property boundary as they have run against yet another hurdle. Dear Lord, we simply pray that this burden be removed from us, lead us know how we should handle this situation. Soften the hearts of those that continue to push without just cause. We praise you for any answers that you provide. Continue to pray for Pat Gelisse. Thanks to you that have made donations to GOFUNDME.COM on behalf of Pat through Karen Mays. I understand that Pat and Tim have made some progress on fixing up the house. At this point only $7,000 dollars has been raised. Please solicit your friends, family or local businesses to assist in the donation for her heart transplant and expenses associated with this. Your efforts will be most appreciated. Pat stay strong and God will provide for you as needed. Be patient and wait on him to make the way. Daily devotional; Jesus Calling, Approach this day with awareness of who is the Boss. As you make plans for the day, remember that it is I who orchestrated the events of your life. On days when things go smoothly, according to your plans, you may be unaware of My sovereign Presence. On Days when your plans are thwarted, be on the lookout for Me! I may be doing something important in your life, something quite different from what you expected. It is essential at such time to stay in communication with Me, accepting My way as better than yours. Dont try to figure out what is happening. Simply trust Me and thank Me in advance for the good that will come out of it all. I know the plans I have for you, and they are good. Doesnt this speak to each of us? How many times do we try and take control of our own destiny, do Gods work, thinking we can anticipate others thoughts and how we should make things go. It speaks to me and how I have done things in the past before getting back into God word so the Holy Spirit could guide me. Just the other day and Ive had plenty of time to consider what was said that that time, I had a man tell me that reading the Bible wasnt necessary. He continues to discuss his morals and how he always treated people well. I took the opportunity to explain that morals and good deeds were definitely a part of life, but also began to share that reading the bible is one of the ways that the Holy Spirit comes into our heart and soul to guides us in our walk with him daily. We were interrupted and didnt get to finish the conversation. Dear God the few words that we spoke, until we meet again, I pray that you take those few seeds and multiple them in his heart. Let him open the bible and read if only a few verses allowing him the opportunity to see and understand the value of being able to hold these verses in his heart for recall and daily use will benefit him today. I cant say it enough to everyone that reads through these long post how much I appreciate your dedication. I see between 50 and 90 people that visit this post. Thus I believe that the words and thoughts that God has put on my heart have been shared with each one of you. As always please share this with anyone that you feel can benefit. I love you all. Rick
