Weather Situation A slow moving high in the Great Australian Bight will strengthen during the remainder of this week, extending a firm ridge into much of Queensland. A series of weak upper level troughs will move east over southern Queensland during the forecast period. A stronger upper level trough is expected to develop over northern and eastern Queensland during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of Thursday Isolated to scattered showers about the north tropical and central coasts. Isolated showers about the remaining east coast and eastern interior north of about Brisbane. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. A warm day through much of the state, particularly the northwest and central interior. Moderate to fresh and gusty south to southeasterly winds in the north and west, strong at times near the far north tropical coast.
