Good morning everyone its another beautiful, hot, sunny day here so Im staying inside trying to keep cool. I hope the CS finds us a paddling pool soon. The CS suggested I have a think about what has happened over the last six months since I came to live with her, Bryn & Dilys, so I have done. It seems a very long time since I had no fur and had to wear a coat even indoors, a very sore eye, which I no longer have :) , was underweight and very lost and confused. I was very lucky that Barbara took me in to FOS and looked after me so well until I moved into the old house. At first it seemed very strange to be living in a house and have other dogs and someone to talk to but I soon learned how to get up and down the steps to the garden and where the fire was. That was a real luxury for me and I even had my own comfy mat in front of it - bliss :D. Dilys let me have her metal crate as my personal place of security and bedroom. The CS had bought me a nice, soft travel crate but I used to dig the floor so as Dilys only used hers during the day as somewhere to hide biccies from Bryn, she let me have it So, new home, new friends and new human being and plenty of food and warmth what more could I want or need? Nothing. I was taken out in the car with the others and really enjoy being driven around. I have a comfy, soft, fabric basket in there to help me feel more secure and I wear a proper doggy safety harness - we dont want any accidents. (Quite apart from it being a legal requirement.) I now have a new house with a garden where I can dig and collect goosegrass burrs. :) These days I still enjoy meeting other people and dogs, my fur is growing very well and I have lovely fluffy ears again. The CS says she likes my fluffy legs which she thinks look like a teddy bears legs. I have become more used to being handled and now enjoy cuddles and grooming - I used to be very wary of being touched, and am becoming cheekier and more adventurous. I can get onto the CSs bed if she forgets and leaves the bedroom door open and I can also get onto her bunk in the caravan. Ive been on holiday to Lothersdale with Bryn & Dilys and we have all been to Wharfedale and Somerset with the caravan, to several RAYNET exercises and to help raise funds for FOS. I am far busier now than I have ever been and nasty things like fleas are a thing of the past. Im still wonky and wobbly, cant see very well and can hear very little. I can hear Bryn when he does one of his really loud barks but I think the whole world can hear him. I used to do a lot of pacing, I still do some but not nearly as much as I used to. When I first left FOS nobody thought I was going to survive very long but I am enjoying myself so much Ive decided I want to stay around as long as possible and I have rediscovered a great pleasure - sniffing. I didnt bother sniffing and was really disinterested in such doggy things but now Ive found it again and its wonderful. :D You humans dont know what you are missing. I forgot to say I have my own bedroom where I keep my crate and every morning Dilys comes in with the CS to see that I am OK and to let me out.
