Good morning, folks! Here we are…at the precipice of two years - - TopicsExpress

Good morning, folks! Here we are…at the precipice of two years - the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015. And right at 18 years since I walked into this shop looking for a machine that did a great buttonhole. Five buttonholes later (Barbara must’ve been thrilled when I asked her to show me five in a row – one: any salesperson can muster up showing one; three perfectly matching buttonholes: the sewing gods are smiling on you; five: sewing nirvana!), and the ability to create my own machine embroidery designs (mind you, using DOS software), I was smitten, and here we are today. It’s a crazy, crazy world. And I wouldn’t change a thing… well… not too many things… (OK…I’ve got a list…) I will say, however, that I prefer the regrets for having done something than the regrets that accompany the “I wish I would have…” On that note: First: Thank you! We delivered 210 sleeping bags to My Friend’s Place – 10 beyond our goal of 200. Because of you, 210 homeless youth in Hollywood are sleeping more warmly. To those of you who participated – please know how grateful I am to you for your assistance. To those of you who didn’t participate – it’s never too late to perform random acts of kindness – a $5 Subway gift card to someone in need (I carry them all the time, and you can, too); breakfast for the crew at the car wash; a thank you note to someone for making a difference in your day. OK. Off my Soapbox and on to Counting, Counting, Counting... The end of the year. It comes every year. Inevitably. And we end up counting buttons and needles and threads and machines and fabrics for HOURS. To that end, so that we don’t end up counting for HOURS, here’s your chance to SAVE: It’s our Grab, Go & Sew End of Year Clearance! Through January 4th, 2015, you’ll find savings throughout the store up to 75% OFF! Did you see that? 75%! We’ve got loads of fabric coming in, and loads of fabric that needs to go out! There’s still time to take advantage of Bernina’s AMAZING deal on the B215 sewing machine at $699! That’s $400 off the retail price! (Available through December 31, 2014 only.) Classroom machines are ready to go, too, and at incredible prices. Looking to save even more? Consider adopting one of our floor model sewing, embroidery, quilting and overlock machines. Full warranty and free machine instruction classes included! You’ll find lots of BOGO!* (buy one get one free) opportunities throughout the shop, too, so when you find that perfect something for someone, you can stock up for yourself, too! Floriani machine embroidery threads? BOGO! Mettler variegated cotton threads? BOGO! Buttons? BOGO! Books? BOGO! (*Limited to stock on hand; you will be charged for the item of greatest value; may not be used in conjunction with any other offers.) And of course, financing is available. This Man Suffers Chronically From BLOG Build-Up... I think that does it – at least for the moment… (You know how I am – I get BLOG build-up…) Except to say… Thank You. From all of us to all of you and yours, thank you. Thank you for your extraordinary support of Sewing Arts, for your kindness, your friendship, and your confidence in us. It means the world to all of us – it means the world to me. Without you, we couldn’t do what we do, and we hope to be ever mindful of your unflappable support of the people who work at Sewing Arts with each spool of thread you buy (Did you know that if everyone who received this letter simply came in once a month to purchase a spool of thread and a pack of needles at Sewing Arts, that’d pay the rent every month?), every machine purchased, every class taken, every machine repaired, every quilt quilted, and every yard of fabric sewn. All our best – and all my best - to you and yours for an awesome New Year. My wish for you in the New Year? Courage. Don’t wait by the phone for your dreams to come true. Don’t “gonna” do something – do it! Take your dreams by the horns, and make them all come true in 2015. Ok… I’m done. See you soon! Russell
