Good morning from the swamp, I pray God will bless you all on this Monday morning. The private & personal blessings we enjoy, the blessings of immunity, safeguard, liberty, & integrity, deserve the thanksgiving of a whole life. Jeremy Taylor (1613-1667) The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people w/peace. Psalm 29:11 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1 When we live in the secret place of prayer it becomes impossible for us to doubt God. We become more sure of Him than of anything else. Bible Reading Nov.25: Ezekiel 41:1-42:20; Psalm133:1-3; Proverbs 29:6; 1 Peter 1:1-25. Devotion: Privilege And Honor Knowing that you were not redeemed w/corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers. 1 Peter 1:18 Dr. Pedro Jose Greer has become something of a legend in Miami. As an intern in 1984, Dr. Greer treated a homeless man w/tuberculosis, a normally curable disease that had progressed to a fatal stage. Greer was appalled that someone in his own neighborhood could so poor & ignorant that he failed to seek medical treatment. As the man lay dying, Greer spent 4 days searching the streets for the mans family, hoping the man wouldnt die alone. Rather than merely bemoan that one case, Greer took action. He set up a clinic in a shelter--beginning w/only a folding table. He took other doctors along w/him. His Camillus Health Concern is now one of the largest providers of medical care for the poor in South Florida, treating 4,500 patients a year. Greer has won numerous awards for his humanitarian efforts. But he has never forgotten the man who died alone. Between the 3 days he spends at the clinic & the time he spends in private practice, he searches Miamis worst streets looking for those who need medical care. Greers work cost him much, & yet he sees himself as blessed: Ive had the privilege of treating the sick & the honor of working w/the poor. The truly worthwhile things in life, will cost you something. Yesterday Church services were wonderful. Starting w/SS: Thank You, Lord ( As you get ready for Thanksgiving, what do you look forward to most? We live in a day of ingratitude & presumption. The world, our own sinful flesh, & the Devil have motivated & captivated many of us to be in persistent hot pursuit of perishable products that all have temporary stamped on them. This spirit of ingratitude is robbing us of the spirit of generosity & humility. Many this week will be wrapped up in Thanksgiving Day Parades, football games, & turkey w/all the trimmings, but they never will stop to give thanks to Almighty God for His many blessings. Psalm 100 can restore unto us a spirit of thanksgiving & joyful gratitude to our Lord & everyone in our concentric circles of contact. The psalm is addressed to people of all generations, all ages, & in all stages of life. God wants all people at all times to apply this message. Throughout the psalm, the psalmist is speaking of the Lord. Now you cant appreciate the message of the psalmist until you are intimately acquainted w/the one of whom he speaks: Jehovah Himself. Psalm 100:1-5. Childrens Sermon: Psalm 107:8 (Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness). Great job Brenda. Choral Worship: Give Thanks The Antithesis of Worry: Philippians 4:4-7 1. The problem v.6 Were told not to worry. When Paul wrote this he was in jail. The people were suffering persecution; The church was in turmoil. There were false teachers. Some believers were facing struggles for food, clothing & shelter. The word worry means, (to strangle). Worry will do just that, see Matthew 6: 31-33. 2. The prescription; Rejoice. It makes us feel good to rejoice always. Paul tells us 4 things to do as we rejoice: 1. Pray, 2. Petition, focuses on special needs. Begging for His attention. 3. Thanksgiving, praising God for all things. 4. Requests, lay down before God exactly what is needed. Hes never to busy. Matthew 7:7, James 4:2. The promise v.7. Peace of God, (a transcending peace, protecting peace. He guards & protects us. God can only keep us as we are w/Him. John 14:27, 16:33. When we pray, we have the Love of God, Wisdom of God, & the power of God. Another good one Stan, Thank you so much. God loves you, always has, always will. I will trust in God & not be afraid Please talk w/God today abt. whatever is on your heart, he loves to hear from you. Pray for our sick, hurt & lonely. Our missionaries, our church, Stan, Donna & Alison, our country & leaders, our service men & women. Until next time.................
