Good morning my friends. Oh, it’s good to be back home again. We began our trip to the National Exchange Club Convention on Saturday, July the 5th and arrived back home on July, the 15th in time to vote in the runoff for Clerk of Court for Iredell County. I was hoping you folks could have gotten us a little more rain while we were gone…it looks like you saved it all up and had the Lord to dump it on Matthews. We spent the first night in Franklin, NC and then on to Chattanooga, TN, and then to Mobile, Al before driving on to New Orleans. It didn’t take me too awfully long before I found out that I hadn’t lost anything down there in N’Awlins. Don’t get me wrong, we had a great time with our fellow Exchangites, but venturing out in that heat and humidity took its toll pretty quickly. I think that the only reason people live down there is because they just don’t know what it is like somewhere else. I talked to a waitress that had lived there all her life and had only gone to Mississippi one time and said she didn’t like it. Well, I have been to all the lower forty-eight states and have liked every one of them, but I have no desire to live anywhere else. I guess it’s what you get used to. We stayed in some nice hotels on our trip…The Hampton Inn the first three nights were wonderful and so was the Sheraton at New Orleans and the Comfort Inn in Tupelo, MS. But we had a little trouble finding a place in Pigeon Forge, TN for out last place to spend the night. If you want a little advice, don’t get too tired and desperate before finding a room. All Days Inns are not created equally. We have stayed at some nice new ones in our travels before, but I will have to say that the one where we spent the last night was memorable. The washcloth was so thin that I could have read the paper through it, the non-smoking room still smelled like cigarettes left over from fifty years ago, receptacles for chargers and the computer were scarce, and there was a washcloth still in the sink when we got there. If that wasn’t enough, I brought Vickie’s coffee to her and it was too cold for her to even drink. Thankfully a McDonald’s was nearby to get her some hot coffee and a sausage biscuit for me. Well, it’s 5:30 and back to the old drawing board. I have over two thousand pics to go through and ready for facebook, so I had better get going. I think I will wait until Friday to begin my exercising again. Have a good day my friends and don’t forget to be kind to one another. God Bless!!
