Good morning my terrific family. The second weekend of July has arrived and as we are here to greet it I say Thank You Great and Powerful Father. Had an awesome time last evening in Austin especially watching Sheryl Crow who proves women of a certain age just get better with time. Sitting outside in that amphitheater with a wonderful cool breeze blowing and families gathered for the concert took me back to the days of yore growing up. One of our familys treats on a summer evening was to go buy snow cones at the local snow cone place that was located in front of a car wash in Pharr, Tx. I especially liked that as mama and daddy rode in the cab of my daddys truck, my brother and I would ride in the back of the truck breeze blowing on our faces. Back then $2.00 dollars bought 4 very nice and large snow cones. Banana for my daddy, a pink snow cone flavored leche for my mama, a blue coconut one for my brother and for myself whatever flavor struck my fancy. On those wonderful summer nights it seemed all of small town Pharr gathered at the snow cone stand as we always ran into someone or some family we knew. Daddy then would take the long way home as Gilbert and I happily munched on our snow cones. To this day I still love riding in the back of a pick up and letting the wind hit my face. This is one of many things that takes me to my happy place. Guess its those wonderful memories of years gone by when a family of 4 went hunting for snow cones. I wonder if there are pick up trucks in heaven. If there are, when I get there Im going to ask my daddy to take me for ride in the back of one. If yall are already up there when I arrive, yall are more than welcome to join me. My family today is a great day to conjure up some memories of your own with the ones you love. Take advantage of this blessing as one day youll look back on the memory which will bring a smile to your face and delight your heart. Have a simply sensational day which it will be when in all your glory you let the world know its your day.
