Good news for me. I am scheduled for a Catheter Ablation (cardiac procedure) on 9/11 just after my birthday. I have had ongoing heart challenges which have worsened this year; lack of insurance only complicated the matter. Friday I saw a cardiologist who confirmed that I have Atrial flutter (AFL) an abnormal heart rhythm that occurs in the atria of the heart. In my case the top right beats much faster than the rest of the heart. They will create scar tissue in the upper right chamber of my heart to alleviate this issue. The hope is this will keep me also keep from going in and out of AFIB. I have been treated for AFIB with meds since 2008. Currently my EKG looks worse than before I started the meds. Studies show at least a 50% success rate for the combined issues. The thought in my case the flutter worsens into AFIB. Stop the first skip the second. It takes 3 months to gauge the success of the procedure. Looking forward to not feeling exhausted and water logged all the time. Working with the hospital for temporary coverage as Maine opted out of The Affordable Care Act expansion. As a care giver the last thing you want is to be the patient. At least this is a very quick minimally invasive procedure. drjohnm.org/2013/08/atrial-flutter-15-facts-you-may-want-to-know/
