Good night, Beloved Detroit; After a full weekend, exhaustive - TopicsExpress

Good night, Beloved Detroit; After a full weekend, exhaustive visits, I leave you on this note. After talking tonight to another education activist, I am thinking about what she told me. Consider the ways in which truth tellers are discredited. Think about what is said about people who tell uncomfortable truths. First, their location is questioned: Who is she to ....? What standing does--- have to talk? What is it to him/her? Why is she always criticizing----? Consider this an easy way to discern: Who is getting paid and who is not? What is the stake one has in ones truth? Paid organizers and paid staffers are trained to ignore or debase the people in the community, to discredit their motives and to disregard the community people. How else could anyone come into a community knowing better what the People know? This is intentional and a means to an end. Then the People, without a strong sense of self, will buy into the self hatred and go along with the takeover. Listen carefully to the words used to describe the People. See you at Eastern Michigan University on Tuesday, with truth tellers explaining the Jim Crow district - the Educational Achievement Authority, for the poorest students in Detroit. Hopefully, UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN STUDENTS WILL JOIN THE MOVEMENT TO FREE DETROIT PUBLIC SCHOOLS and get their hands off Detroit School for the Arts. We can win in what Cesar Chavez taught us: The consumer boycott is the Court of Last Resort. Students, we are counting on you !!!
