Good people in our life cant rescue us from our own poor - TopicsExpress

Good people in our life cant rescue us from our own poor decisions. We can always create blame and excuses in our world simply to justify the selfish deeds we demand to commit. We can even justify hurting innocent people in our pursuit of what will make us happy. But heres the problem... We cant place any of that on Christ. So when people near to us try to convince us of the pain, heartbreak, and regret thats absolutely coming, they are on a fools errand. We wont listen... We cant hear them. Proverbs 14:12 says that there is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end, it surely leads to destruction. Sometimes destruction is the only teacher we will listen to. So God summons her to teach us. A massive loss, intense sickness, abandonment, loss of peace and so many other misfortunes start to come one after another, after another, after another. Honestly its staggering at the pace in which we will hit new lows. You see, once we selfishly commit to the wrong path in our hearts, God goes with us. The wonderful and yet terrifying thing about God is He never gives up on us... But He will really discipline us. He will show His love in ways we could never imagine. At first He gives us subtle, small hints.... Later he brings the epic storms. Storms that are almost unimaginable. Storms you can never be ready or plan for. The pain these storms will bring with them is heartbreaking. In many ways God is breaking our stiff neck...and we will never really recover fully. At first, we chalk the storms up to life or bad luck .... But way down inside of our hearts and mind we know that it is our disobedience to His way that has brought the storm. We know that we cant blame others anymore... We let ourself be carried away by our own desires. The deepest parts of our heart still believes the truth that God cannot bless us because we have defied His order of life. Eventually, tired, wounded, and bleeding we find our way back to Him... Only this time with a limp that never goes away. This is how we know God loves us... Because he disciplines us. Because God refuses to shrug His shoulders and write you off. Go ahead and act like you can walk away from Him. Hes always going to come after. For many of us...Happy Ever After comes with a forever limp. It has for me anyway.
