Google Ventures has invested $100M in Flatiron, a company automating the collection of patient data (paper or electronic) and through hybrid machine/human systems, is trying to structure and glean context from this unstructured data. Medical informatics and learning systems are coming to medicine but Im wondering whether our source data (all of our medical information) needs an upgrade before these approaches become meaningful?
