Gosh, Robin Williams...wow. I just told this story the other day and hadnt recalled it in a while. A few years ago, my dad Chuck Leavell was playing an NYC show with the Rolling Stones. The band was staying in a five star hotel in Manhattan and in that hotel were tons of A listers who were there for a Hurricane Katrina fundraiser held at that hotel. We met my parents at the elevator, headed out for dinner in the city...Mom had caught a bit of The Birdcage on the hotel TV and talked the whole elevator ride about what a wonderful movie it was and how great Nathan Lane and Robin Williams were. Then, as we land in the hotel lobby and the elevator doors opened, there stood none other than Robin Williams! My mom, Rose Lane White Leavell, without skipping a beat and as if seeing an old friend says, I was JUST talking about you! We all laughed hysterically. I hope he is at peace now. Such a loss. Just so sad.
