Gosh! So much THIS. THIS. THIS. Just like Diana, as an author who has self-published and will do so again, who has worked with small, indie presses and the big traditional publishers, I can a 100% agree with everything here. There is no side when it comes to the authors. Put down your bayonets. Id like to add. There is also no correct, one way to publish a book. And there is ALWAYS two sides to the story that NO author or the general public is privy to (i.e. Amazon vs. Hachette, Amazon vs. Warner Brothers vs. the world vs.whatever) Im telling you, I have seen more authors on both sides of the fence lose more readers than a badly written book or 500 1 star reviews could accomplish because of this stuff. And for the love of mother %7(*(*^*&% baby llamas everywhere, please stop telling/guilting readers about where they buy their books. Not everyone has access to Indies, B&Ns or BAMs, or has the money to pay full retail price and stop equating authors who are traditionally published as being stupid or in an abusive relationship. Both things are offensive and just reflects badly on you.
