Gospel reflection: June 1, 2014 – 7th Sunday of Easter/Ascension of the Lord Whether we are in a diocese that celebrates this day the Ascension of the Lord, or somewhere, like Pittsburgh, that celebrates the Seventh Sunday of Easter, one common thread runs through both Gospel readings: divine intimacy. John 17:1-11a speaks of Jesus’ relationship with the Father and the Father with him. The passage offers us the grace to recognize the link between that Trinitarian intimacy and Jesus’ intimacy with us. This intimacy is not only a gift, but a requirement. There is no way we can follow Jesus’ commandments or to baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Spirit, unless we are grounded in the reality of that intimacy. “I am always with you”, Matthew 28:16-20 reminds us. Let us pray either or both Gospel passages with openness to receive the growing intimacy with the Father, Son and Spirit in our own lives. Sister Geraldine Wodarczyk, CSFN #csfn #GospelReflection
