Got 37 seconds? I worked as a makeup artist some time ago. I can tell you, photo shootings are a lot of hard work, art and fun. But the photos produced have little to nothing to do with reality. Every move is carefully observed, each inch of the photo examined. Great art of everyone involved, but not something that should be taken as an ideal - at least not of how one should look like in real life. Unless you can afford hours of putting on makeup, and then fixing it up every couple of eye movements...and much much more. I can guarantee, each photo is touched with Photoshop - from a little to a lot. This complex knowledge of everyone involved results in a great photo. And thats what it is: imagination on paper. Its impossible to look flawless in every moment you go through life, and thats totally okay. Nor can you look exactly like that girl at the gym. Or the guy pumping his abs on youtube channel. Even if you do everything the same, you will look different. And thats awesome! I think we need to accept this and teach especially our young ones not to compare their bodies to what runs on TV. Or anyone else. Goes both for men and women. This unhealthy comparison is killing us. Look for beauty thats already in and around. Healthy diet, enough sleep, exercise - but mostly feeling good in your skin - its THE best Photoshop ever. We should work on promoting healthy self-image, and have marketers present art, not identity. Photography and modeling is art, results of which should be admired in this light. Not beating yourself up, if your __________ will never look like his/hers. Your _________ cant by all laws of nature look like that! And its absolutely fabulous! Celebrate!
