Got a bill from a Neurosurgeon in Nashville who performed two - TopicsExpress

Got a bill from a Neurosurgeon in Nashville who performed two surgeries on me a couple years ago. I have recently started to feel there was a change in my back in the same area of those previous surgeries. Made an appointment to check things out and when I arrived I was informed that I would see his assistant who quickly informed me that I needed a Mylogram before seeing the neurosurgeon. A two minute visit with the assistant was billed at 200.00. Although insurance paid all but 47.00 dollars this is a pretty good example of why insurance is so overpriced. I could have been told over the phone that I needed pictures before seeing the Dr. In order for him to accurately diagnose my problem. I dont know how everyone else feels but if Im going to be charged a premium I dont want to see an assistant who may or may not be qualified to evaluate my condition in the first place. Any thoughts?
