Got a funny to share. Went to Sportsman Warehouse in Southaven, MS with Pat the other day after we went out for dinner. We go there a lot. When we arrived Pat heads toward the reloading supplies while I go to the kids stuff. As I made my way to the back of the store where Pat was, I saw a taxidermy animal sitting on a shelf about 7 feet up. I was impressed with the taxidermists work. But then I noticed the sign advertising what it was. At that point I lost the store and taxidermists respect. The sign said it was a prairie dog. I nearly hit the floor in disbelief. I took the sign down and went to find Pat. When I explained everything to Pat he told me to just speak with someone at the store. He felt certain they would fix it. So thats what I did. I didnt get the response I expected. They actually looked at me like I was crazy. But then I told them it wasnt a prairie dog but was a marmot instead. I left thinking they would check it out and make the correction. Pat went to the store a few days later. Can you believe it?! They put the sign back up. Whats a person to do? I did everything I know to do. Now Ill admit that the prairie dog and the marmot do look a lot alike. But the prairie dog weighs about 2-5 lbs while the marmot weighs an avg of 25 lbs. The marmot stands about 1 1/2 - 2 feet tall. I guess if youve never seen one of them close up they could be easily confused. But when someone holding pictures shows you that the taxidermy animal you advertise is wrong wouldnt you at least check it out? Just wondering..
