Got any ideas for where I can move to for the rest of my life, a place that has ALL of the following characteristics: • rolling hills, • lush (green) plant life, • all 4 seasons, • near a university, • culture is intelligent and very forward-thinking, • far enough away from urban areas that there are ample land opportunities to build a secluded tiny house (and a more substantial workshop-lab), • still close enough to a city for quality medical facilities, a variety of eating options, and shopping (especially hardware stores and hobby shops), • close to a major airport for easy traveling, • where one can engineer off-the-grid living without getting in trouble, • minimal probability for natural disasters (no earth-quakes, floods, wild fires, etc.), • and has a low cost of living,... oh, and • where retirement annuities are not taxed? Am I asking too much? From exposures in my youth, Im drawn to the Appalachians. Switzerland and Austria are beautiful too, but not sure I could pull off that much of a change... and afford it.
